Susie Lee, 18, is a senior at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL. She commenced her studies at the age of four. Susie has studied with teachers of the Music Institute of Chicago, including Emilio del Rosario, Micah Yui, and Brenda Huang. Susie currently studies with Dr. James Giles at Northwestern University.
Susie has won awards in many competitions including the Sejong Cultural Society Competition, Chinese Fine Arts Competition, NSMTA Piano Competition, Emilio del Rosario Concerto Competition, New Praise Society Competition, Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, among many others.
Susie appeared as a soloist with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Stephen Alltop, as the winner of the 2012 Elmhurst Symphony Concerto Competition. She also performed with the Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra, as the winner of the 2013 Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra Concerto Showcase. Susie became a laureate of the Crain-Maling Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Auditions in 2012, and performed at Orchestra Hall in Symphony Center. Susie was also invited to perform at Carnegie Hall as a Grand Prize winner of the New Praise Society Competition in 2005. Susie was also featured in the Young Steinway Concert Series in 2012.
Susie has participated in master classes with artists such as Christopher Harding, Ory Shihor, Myeong Joo Lee, and Meng Chieh Liu.
Susie has performed as a featured soloist in many camps and festivals including the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Piano Academy and the Colburn School Piano Academy. Susie is also the Principal Pianist in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and Encore Chamber Orchestra., where she was a finalist in the CYSO Concerto Competition. Susie will be going on the International Tour to China this summer where she will perform at many prestigious concert venues with the CYSO.
Susie volunteers for the Fine Arts Healing Program at Edward Hospital in Naperville, where she performs for patients and their families. In her spare time, Susie likes swimming, teaching piano, and traveling.
