Recently, Kelly was invited to be featured in HBO: Masterclass with Joshua Bell and traveled to New York and London in late April to participate in the filming of this show. Earlier in the year, Kelly also received a nomination for the Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Among her other achievements are competing in the 2013 Sendai International Music Competition in June 2013, being chosen to be a finalist in the 2013 NFAA YoungArts Week in Miami, Florida and receiving the 2012 Elaine and Jerome Nerenberg Scholarship and the 2011 Farwell-Trust Scholarship, both from the Musicians Club of Women.
Awards include first prize at the 2011 Blount-Slawson competition in AL, laureate of the 2011 Thomas and Evon Cooper International competition, 2011 Crain-Maling Foundation Youth Auditions with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the 2011 Schmidbauer competition in Nacogdoches, TX, as well as being a finalist for the 2012 Stulberg and 2012 Johansen International Competitions. In the summers, she has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine, as well as the Great Mountains Music Festival and School (Korea), Ishikawa Music Academy (Japan), l’Académie Internationale d’été de Nice (France), and The Holland International Music Sessions (Netherlands).
In 2011, Kelly and her brother founded Walk With Children, an organization that supports orphans from the March 2011 Japan disaster by raising funds through an annual benefit concert. In the two years since beginning the organization, more than thirty of the top young musicians in the Chicago area have participated in the concerts, raising over 5,000 dollars. Currently, they are expanding the organization to help other children around the world.
