Tabitha Oh, 18, is a senior at the University of Chicago Laboratory High School. She studies the violin with Desiree Ruhstrat of the Grammy-nominated Lincoln Trio. This is Tabitha’s fourth year as a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra where she serves as one of three concertmasters. Recent prizes include first place in the Union League Civic & Arts Foundation Competion, Society of American Musicians Competition, Sejong Competition, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, and the Music Festival in Honor of Confucius Competiton.
This past summer Tabitha toured as the assistant concertmaster of the inaugural National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, where she toured Washington DC, London, Moscow and St. Petersburg with maestro Valery Gergiev and soloist Joshua Bell. In previous years, Tabitha also participated in the Chicago Youth in Music Festival with Richardo Muti and the Cassalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy. Tabitha will be going to Princeton University this fall.
