Quartet Fuoco is a chamber ensemble of the Midwest Young Artists Chamber Music Program in Highwood, IL. It’s members, all the principal players in MYA’s Symphony Orchestra, are Rachel Stenzel (17) and Aidan Perreault (16), violins; David Berghoff (18), viola; and Chris Gao (17), cello. They are coached by Mathias Tacke and Shmuel Ashkenasi (formerly of the Vermeer Quartet). Quartet Fuoco was the 2014 Gold Medalist in the Junior Division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The quartet was also the overall winner in the MYA Division of the 2014 Discover National Chamber Music Competition, and placed second in the 2014 Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition. They have been invited to attend the Vocal Arts and Music Festival at Virginia Tech this summer, and will also be performing on NPR’s From the Top in June. They have performed in master classes for the Jupiter and Omer String Quartets, Richard Young, Rami Solomonow, and Stephen Balderston; they were also the featured performers at the 2014 Fischoff Gala in Notre Dame, IN.
