On Saturday’s broadcast, we feature 18 year old cellist Lucie Ticho.
Lucie Ticho has studied cello with Tanya Carey for 11 years. This fall, she will study with Richard Aaron as a student of the exchange program between Columbia University and The Juilliard School. She was a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) for 7 years and principal cellist for 5 years. Lucie has performed as a soloist with the Elgin Symphony, the CYSO and the CYSO Encore Chamber Orchestra.
Lucie was a semifinalist in the 2014 Stulberg International String Competition, the 2014 Irving Klein International String Competition and the 2015 Johansen International Competition. She was also a 2016 YoungArts Foundation winner and a medalist at the 2014 Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Auditions. She has been a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the Aspen Music Festival’s New Horizons Fellowship. This summer, she traveled to Europe with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States and to Canada for the Orford International Music Festival.
