Born and raised in Glencoe, Illinois; Jason Lewis has never known a world without classical guitar. At just three years old, closely following his older brother and musical mentor, Aaron, he began lessons at the Music Institute Of Chicago. This was the only school that would take him so young. There, teacher Dr. Julia Miller fostered his early development. Jason performed his first concert at 4 years old in Chicago, and by 9 had begun his duo career with his older brother.
As a soloist, Jason has participated in the GFA for 5 years, and received second in the Society of American Musicians competition. Jason has received master classes from world renowned guitarists such as William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant, Elena Papandreou, Jason Vieux, Stefan Jovic, and Andrew York.
As a duo the two were selected to play for a McDonalds Corporation promotional video, performed for the Music Teachers Association in Governor’s State College. More recently they performed a full concert on WFMT Introductions, were featured in the Skokie Segovia Concert Series, and were asked to play at the Austin Texas International Guitar Competition and Convention in 2011. The duo has split as Aaron left for Yale University, and Jason for Interlochen Arts Academy, but they are hopeful to reunite in the future.
At Interlochen as a guitar major under the teaching of Dr. Michael Kudirka, Jason is continuing to hone his love for music.
